When Sara and I met Logan, we were instantly interested in photographing her wedding because her theme is focused on a love for a certain four-legged animal of the Equine variety. Horse people are certainly a unique breed and anyone who owns a horse or who has owned a horse speaks a certain language. This may explain our instant connection when we first met Logan at Irongate Equestrian Center during a bridal show. From that day on we could not wait to get Logan and her fiance, Mike in front of our cameras tocreate beautiful images.
I heard so much about Mike from Logan, but did not have the opportunity to meet him until I shot their engagement session. The morning we selected to create their engagement images was the same morning the Columbus Marathon was going on, which made getting to Schiller Park a little bit challenging. Thankfully, when we showed up it was nearly over and we were able to break through the runners to get access to the park. Mike, being a triathlete himself, might have been itching to jump into the race since he's training for the upcoming Boston Marathon. On this morning he had the chilly air and his beautiful fiance to keep his mind off running.
We started taking photos at the theater area of Schiller Park with the beautiful columns and vines providing a nice backdrop. We continued to make our way around the park to various locations, capturing the beautiful colors of fall. While this gorgeous couple stopped for a wardrobe change I decided to use some of their props to capture some photos of Logan’s engagement ring and also incorporate some of the leaves from the park. While i was concentrating on taking ring shots, I was nearly attacked by an angry squirrel. Luckily he caused no harm, and I'm glad because I'm sure Logan and Mike would never believe my story.
After the park, we decided to take a walk around German Village and towards Schmidt’s Sausage Haus where there were some great alley ways, garden views and some nice textured buildings to finish out our session. As you can clearly see, Logan and Mike are very comfortable in front of the camera and we cannot wait for their wedding next May!
