Tony and I met Steven and Andrew in early November. They were searching for a photographer who could do their engagement session and wedding. We are so happy they chose us to do both! Steve and Andy are wonderful- they were cracking us up in our first client meeting with them and at their engagement session. Tony said that this was the first time that his images might be out of focus due to laughing so hard while taking them.
Steve and Andy brought their fur babies, Rascal and Tanner along with them for some photos. These dogs were so adorable. Rascal is a Yorkie, who is mostly silver/grey with a jet black tail, making him the most interesting Yorkie I've ever seen. Tanner is a Bichon who loves to smell and eat leaves. Needless to say, he was in heaven with all of the November fallen foliage at Chestnut Ridge Park. Steven and Andy also brought their tee-shirts that said, "I <3 my crazy boyfriend" that they purchased while on vacation.
We asked Steve and Andy about their history- about their first date, when they got engaged and details about their engagement. Their story is so stinkin' cute. Steve was VERY specific about how they first met. He said that they first met in aisle six of the grocery store in January of 2014. According to Andrew's mother, they couldn't stop checking each other out. They met again at Steve's company Christmas party in January of 2014 and once more, according to their parents, they couldn't keep their eyes off of each other and were flirting like crazy.
Their first date was on a cold and rainy day at the Columbus zoo on April 3rd, 2014. Steve remembered how Andrew made silly voices for the animals as they went through the exhibits. When they made it to the reptile exhibit, Steve said that he was so stricken with fear that his body clung to the wall, the furthest away from the reptiles as he could be. He said he didn't leave that wall the whole time they were in there.
Steven proposed to Andrew on February 14th, 2015 (Valentine's Day). Andrew was sick and slept most of the day. While watching television, Steve got down on one knee and popped the question while Andrew was laying on the couch wrapped up in a blanket. After Steve asked Andrew to marry him, Andrew decided to hide behind their dog, Rascal and had Rascal answer the question for him. Then on April 3rd, 2015 (Andrew & Stevens' one year anniversary), Andrew proposed to Steven. Andrew decided to take Steven out to dinner at The Cheesecake Factory for their anniversary dinner. While they were at dinner, Andrew had some plans going on that Steven didn't know about- he asked his mother to go over to their house and put rose petals on their bed spelling out "will you marry me?" Once Andrew and Steven got home, Andrew ran upstairs to light a few candles. When Steve went upstairs, Andrew followed him. Steven saw the bed, turned around to look at Andrew and saw that he was down on one knee. Of course, Steve said yes.
Steve and Andy are getting married on April 3rd, 2016, which is awesome since that is the anniversary of their first date. Hopefully it will not be a cold and rainy day for us, although I can't see how anything would keep this couple from having fun! Enjoy some of the highlights from their engagement session below:
