This past weekend I had the pleasure to shoot one of my co-workers! Not everyone has this opportunity, so I was honored when she asked me to shoot her.
When most people think of shooting their co-workers, they may have something else in mind, but my shooting was a little different.
The first time I met Devi the first thing I noticed was her smile. She has one of those smiles that just lights up a room and makes you feel good about the world! I was glad I had someone like her on my team because no matter how tough things were, I could always count on her to lighten the mood.
Don't get me wrong behind that smile lies a lot of passion and vigor, which is another semi-hard headed trait we both share.
When she approached Sara and me asking for a shoot, we were both excited. We just needed to find the right time and the right location.
We finally settled on German Village near downtown Columbus as our backdrop for the shoot and set a date for early Saturday morning. My poor model had to get out of bed at 5am to make the 7am start time, but we wanted to get our shooting done before the crowds and the heat wrecked havoc on downtown Columbus.
Meeting at Stauf's Coffe for a quick pick up before we started shooting gave us both the energy we needed to muscle through the session. Devi found out pretty quick that being a model was not that easy.
We had a few funny looks throughout our session mostly when a large crowd of walkers came parading down the street.
Devi also brought her friend, agent, and manager along with her who was nice enough to get some shots of me in action. I now know why I prefer to be on the other side of the camera! I'll use this as my motivation to drop a few more lbs before the end of the wedding season here in Ohio.
It was a great shoot for Mak Rabbitt Photography and a beautiful day in German Village for this Columbus, Ohio portrait session. While we love the control of working in our studio, we appreciate the ability to create our art outdoors using the best of what Ohio has to offer!
