Tony and I just got back from Vegas...and let me tell you, it lived up to all of its hype/reputation. We went to "Sin City" for the purpose of attending the annual WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) conference. A couple of days before our trip, we found out we had another reason to be excited about Vegas: one of our couples to get married in 2017 would be there at the same time! This was the PERFECT excuse to capture some amazing, unforgettable engagement photos! We were all PUMPED!
Tony and I stayed at the MGM Grand. It was a beautiful hotel and full of great dining options. MGM was right across from New York New York, which also had amazing dining. We took a few days to walk up and down the Vegas strip to try to see everything we could (an impossible task). We visited Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum and took photos with a few celebrities. We couldn't leave Nevada without taking a trip to see the Hoover Dam. It was awesome.
The WPPI conference was terrific. We met up with some fellow photography friends and spoke with with many of our peers and colleagues. We added some valuable tools to our arsenal after attending a class lead by Thea, from Authentic Eye Photography. Thea co-wrote the book, "The New Art of Capturing Love," which is a guide for photographers on posing same-sex couples. Now that same-sex marriage is FINALLY legal across the states, we are taking advantage of learning about how we can better serve our LGBTQ friends who want to get married. This was a great class, full of fellow photographers who "get it."
This class couldn't have come at a better time because our engagement couple who was also in Vegas was (is) a same-sex couple! This was the highlight of our trip. Taking Collin and Tommy's engagement photos in the beautiful Valley of Fire State Park was inspiring and breathtaking. I will surely never, ever forget this engagement session. I won't post any photos of them in this blog, but I will post some images from our trip and of the park. I will follow up with Collin and Tommy's photos in another blog. Okay fine...I'll include ONE photo of their cuteness from our time together...scroll to the bottom :)
