Each couple we photograph is unique and has a certain style. If they didn't, then our jobs would not be very interesting. Every engagement session and wedding we photograph are completely different. It all comes down to details, location, color and season. Gina and Josh's engagement session location was a first for both me and Tony. They chose their engagement session to be held at Cleveland's infamous West Side Market.
When Gina contacted us to inquire about wedding photography, we were a little more excited than usual because Gina and her fiancé, Josh are part of an elite group of couples. Sara and I are among these couples. I'm talking about the people who have found their significant other while working at Ben Venue Laboratories in Bedford, Ohio. Somehow, BVL manage to forge many relationships. Maybe it was the long hours we all put in, or the strong bond that was formed with everyone who worked at the site through our many challenges over the years. Whatever it was, some awesome chemistry (other than the life-saving drugs we produced) came out of that facility.
Josh and Tony worked as managers in the manufacturing area for a number of years. Sara also worked in the manufacturing area as a supervisor for the investigations group. Sara had the privilege of investigating all of the deviations that Josh and Tony's groups generated. Gina then had the privilege of noting all of their documentation errors when the records got up to her. Needless to say, Gina and Sara were constantly arguing, fighting, compromising and then making up with Josh and Tony over every little documentation discrepancy. With over 1300 employees on site, there was a select group that would always take the opportunity to visit the local watering hole after the end of a long week, when an employee was leaving and moving on, or when it was the end of a stressful audit. Gina, Josh, and many other awesome people (too many to name), were always present at these gatherings.
Gina and Josh planned to have their engagement photos taken at the Westside Market on March 26th, the day before Easter. Thinking there would be large crowds at this time, we decided on an early morning start. Getting into the building at 7:30 am, we started with an overview shot of the inside of the market to capture the size and beauty of the architectural design of the building.
We then proceeded over to the produce side of the market to capture all of the colors present in the fresh fruits and veggies as Gina and Josh shopped for Easter with their families.
We stopped outside on the way over between the two buildings to capture the light show in the sky that Mother Nature presented us on Easter Eve.
We then headed into the main building where Gina and Josh were looking to purchase some homemade pierogis. They found the perfect place at Pierogi Palace and they selected bourbon chicken pierogis among other crazy delicious flavors.
GIna was then on the hunt for baklava and a special pastry for Josh, since he's not a huge fan of baklava. Gina and Josh shared their sweets with each other while Sara and I snapped photos with our stomach’s growling.
Following the completion of our session, Sara and I bought nearly all of the coconut macaroons in the Westside Market and grabbed some beef sticks to enjoy with our families later that day.
Sara and I had such a great time seeing Gina and Josh again and being able to re-connect. We're not trying to rush the summer, but we're looking forward to capturing more great images of this amazing couple at their October Grand Barn Wedding!
