Inniswood Metro Gardens
Marli and Ben had their heart set on an early summer engagement session to compliment their fall wedding. There are few better locations that display the beautiful colors of summer in Columbus, Ohio than Inniswood Metro Gardens! Inniswood Metro Gardens offers a host of beautiful backdrops for couples anytime of the year; however, the summer months are when the flowers are in bloom- and has to be our favorite!
Marli & Ben
Marli & Ben are love outdoor activities. Ben actually proposed to Marli in the rain while hiking Mackinac Island in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (this detail will be important later on in the blog). Ben took Marli on a longer than usual hike on October 10, 2016 to view the beautiful scenery of the U.P. when he decided to surprise her with the ring. Marli admits she had a clue Ben was going to pop the question on the trip, but it seems like Ben made her work for it with a 12 MILE Hike! TRUE LOVE!!
When they are not hiking, they enjoy spending as much time together as possible, whether it be at their favorite coffee house, chilling at home on the couch with their kitty, or going out to eat with friends. This couple just enjoys their time together.
The Engagement Session
If you are familiar with Ohio, the one thing you know about this state is that we have some CRAZY weather, and we mean CRAZY!! It's not atypical to experience all four seasons in one day- we've experienced all four seasons in one day while photographing a spring wedding! Anyway, the days leading up to Marli & Ben's engagement session, the weather was not looking so good with chances of rain and thunderstorms. We agreed that we were going to play it by ear and hope for the best and make a game day decision. As Ohio weather has it, on the day of the session there were scattered storms all over Central Ohio. Marli and I were texting back and forth minutes before the session. I was on the East Side in torrential rain and Marli was on the West Side in pure Sunshine....so we decided to GO FOR IT!
As we pull up to Inniswood Metro Gardens the floodgates opened and it was not looking good. I sent one more text to Marli to see if they were still in and she said that Ben's weather app said it will clear in 5 minutes. Most photographers would have called it off; however, I stuck it out with this motivated duo! Well, Ben's app was correct because soon the clouds parted and the rain stopped. We immediately sprung into action before the next storm arrived! During the brief break in the weather we were able to make some magic happen. We share a small sample of our rewards below. Enjoy!
