Logan and Mike’s Irongate Equestrian Center wedding photos are simply stunning! We were blessed by a beautiful day to work with this beautiful, athletic, equine-friendly couple- and the results were awesome!
About the Couple
Logan and Mike first met in person at the community pool where Logan was a life guard and Mike was a newly hired assistant manager. When asked about the proposal, Logan said: "Mike wanted to go out to dinner. He wanted me to pick a place, but was being a little strange about where (nice, but not too nice, and somewhere new). We went to Lomonoco's in Pickerington followed by Graeter's ice cream. On the way home Mike drove past 2 different entrances to my neighborhood and drove me to the pool that we worked at together. It was dark, only the security lights were on and the pool was still empty. He knelt on one knee in the stone parking lot! It was a sweet thought and I loved it."
We photographed Logan and Mike at Schiller Park last year and created some awesome photos of them just before fall. Their engagement session photos can be viewed HERE. When we first met Logan, we knew that she was into horses and we spent the majority of our time discussing our favorite equine companions. During our engagement session, I learned that Mike was an IRON-MAN and participant in the Boston Marathon. An avid runner, Mike worked with Logan for her first half marathon this year! They are both machines who are goal-driven and push themselves to be the best at what they do. Thanks for making the rest of us look lazy, guys :)
The Wedding Day Part 1
Logan and Mike were officially married by the Catholic Church on May 28th. This was a small, quaint ceremony with close friends and family present to share in their holy matrimony. Tony was there to capture a few photos of their religious sacrament of marriage.
The Wedding Day Part 2
On May 29th Logan and Mike had a larger wedding ceremony complete with an AWESOME reception at the Irongate Equestrian Center.
Getting Ready at Irongate Equestrian Center
Sara and I split up to capture Logan and Mike getting ready in separate areas of the Equestrian center barn. Alhough Logan and Mike were technically already married, they did not want to see each other prior to the actual ceremony. Logan purchased a different dress to be married in that was absolutely gorgeous. The dress was designed by Martina Liana. The ceremony took place in the front courtyard, under the shade of many trees of Irongate Equestrian Center.
Just prior to the ceremony, Sara captured some amazing detail shots of the dress as well as some solo shots of Logan with the string lights of the reception area as a backdrop. I was with Mike and the boys watching them try to remember how to tie ties and put cuff links in their shirts. This is always a struggle for us men, since many of us rarely wear ties or cuff links for that matter.
Irongate Equestrian Center constructed a beautiful arbor, complete with two Woodford Reserve bourbon barrels (one of my personal favorites)! This set the backdrop for a lovely location to share their vows in front of family and friends. This location was so cute, we decided to use it for the formal family photos as well.
One of our favorite things about this wedding was the personalized sign that stood in front of the ceremony entrance that said, "Please, no cell phones." There should be so much more of this! We love that there were no phone ringing interruptions and all eyes were on the bride and groom. As it should be.
Wedding Party Photos
After the ceremony, the bridal party took a small walk to a nearby bridge to take some photos. After we captured the bridal party, we took Logan and Mike to get some private shots of them alone in front of the awesome backdrops this place had to offer us. The location that we selected offered so many options for photos, including a look back at the beautiful equestrian center. It's unfortunate that Logan's horse was not able to make the trip with us to the equestrian center as he was recovering from a recent leg injury. Once he is all healed, we will get photos of Logan in her gown on her horse! Stay tuned!
Irongate Equestrian center provided a very large and spacious atmosphere for the reception. The place was beautifully decorated with special horseshoe wedding favors, flowers and coordinating colors. The dance floor was large enough to handle the huge crowds of dancers ready to showcase their moves. Logan and Mike selected a wonderful dinner for their quests followed by an amazing cake with several flavors including a special carrot cake grooms cake. Their evening concluded with their guests gathering in front of the equestrian center to send them off to their honeymoon with a sparkler exit.
