Michelle and Alex chose a beautiful September day to be married at Weathering Woods in Zainesville, Ohio. This barn venue is absolutely gorgeous and offers numerous photo opps both inside and outside. Michelle got ready with her girls in one room of the venue, while Alex got ready with his guys in another room.
To fit in with the barn theme, the wedding party wore cowboy boots. Alex and each of his groomsmen wore jeans with unique belt buckles and carried personalized pocket knives- a gift from the bride and groom. Michelle gave her bridesmaids matching jewelry for the big day. The girls party wore black dresses and had accents of red in honor of the Ohio State Buckeyes (who were playing that evening). Even the wedding guests were encouraged to wear their Ohio State colors!
After some getting ready photos, Tony took the guys to take some photos by a pretty cool, really "vintage" red, Ford truck on the venue property. After Michelle and her girls were ready, we arranged the first look by the gazebo where the bride and groom would soon say their vows. The bridal party watched as Michelle and Alex saw each other dressed up before the ceremony. After the tears were wiped, we took some group shots of the bridal party.
Soon it was time for the ceremony, and Michelle and Alex exchanged vows under a beautiful arbor that Alex built specially for Michelle on their wedding day. The ceremony was extremely family oriented and very sweet. Michelle and Alex said their vows to each other and to their son. Instead of a unity candle, they braided 3 ropes forming a cross. After their first kiss as husband and wife, it was time for the reception!
Michelle's mother and grandmother made the cake and all of the treats that were offered on the sweets table. A table was set for Michelle's brother who passed last year. A single, red rose was placed at the table and an empty chair sat, watching the venue. Michelle has a very special blue ring that contains her brother's ashes. We took a photo of this ring within the red rose on the table.
The bride and groom surprised their guests with a beautifully choreographed first dance. They danced around the entire dance floor and captivate their audience with all of their moves- even ending the dance with the perfect dip and kiss. After their dance, the floor was opened for everyone to dance- and they did! And, of course, the Ohio State game was being played on TV, even though weather delayed the game.
Before we all knew it, it was time to say "goodbye" to Michelle and Alex via a sparkler send-off. It started raining right before the grand exit; however, this let us get some pretty cool night rain shots of the couple. The sparklers were lit and Michelle and Alex made sure they stopped in the middle to get one last kiss....
